Baseball Game Preview: Brookline Warriors vs. Weymouth Wildcats

The Brookline Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Weymouth Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Brookline might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-3 to Cambridge Rindge & Latin, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jimmy DePalo and Felix Ham did some serious damage despite the final result: DePalo went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Ham went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that DePalo has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Hugh Bolinger, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Weymouth had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Sunday. They never let the Hilltoppers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Jack Reyes's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Johnny Pires was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Will Pratt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-3. As for Brookline, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Brookline couldn't quite get it done against Weymouth when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
