Football Recap: Flint River Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Flint River Academy entered their tilt with Terrell County on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Greenwave 37-14.

Ethan Newman was his usual excellent self, rushing for 100 yards and six touchdowns. Flint River Academy also got a significant boost from Nathan Mizzell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Flint River Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Flint River Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jet Collins, Mason Jones, and Cope Goodwin, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Flint River Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Terrell County, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Flint River Academy and Edmund Burke Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on the 7th. The Spartans' defense has only allowed 9.1 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Terrell County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 35-14 loss against Pelham on the 31st.
