Basketball Recap: Wake Prep Academy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

There's no place like home for Wake Prep Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They were the clear victors by a 67-46 margin over the Woods Charter Wolves on Tuesday. The Guardians pushed the score to 56-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolves cut but never quite recovered from.

Wake Prep Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Journey Johnson, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 22 points and six steals. Those 22 points gave Johnson a new career-high. Azari Astrop was another key player, shooting 64% from the field on her way to 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Woods Charter's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryleigh Myers, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Anna Robards, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Wake Prep Academy pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games. As for Woods Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Wake Prep Academy will welcome Wake Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woods Charter, they will venture away from home to challenge Voyager Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
