Recap: Sam Rayburn Texans vs. Alief Taylor Lions
On Friday, Sam Rayburn ended up a good deal behind Alief Taylor and lost 59-42. While losing is never fun, Sam Rayburn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1231st, while Alief Taylor is ranked 409th).
Nathan Kongolo was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Alief Taylor. Kongolo also posted eight assists for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Christian Stewart, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Sam Rayburn and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for Alief Taylor, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sam Rayburn will challenge Sweeny at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sweeny focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. Alief Taylor is on the road again on Tuesday and play against South Houston at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
