Olathe West's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kaiya Finazzo, who had 15 digs and three assists, and Grace Yeager, who had 16 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Yeager has posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Shawnee Mission Northwest duked it out with Mill Valley on Tuesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost seven in a row.
Shawnee Mission Northwest wouldn't go down easily and took Mill Valley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 15-13.
Olathe West is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.
Olathe West took their victory against Shawnee Mission Northwest in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
