Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Spartans vs. Sequoia Ravens

The Mountain View Spartans will square off against the Sequoia Ravens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mountain View 2.4, Sequoia 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

If Mountain View beats Sequoia with six runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Mountain View came out on top against Carlmont by a score of 6-2 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brennan Dooley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain View is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Zander Yocum was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Jackson Blake was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Sequoia narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Westmont 8-7. That's two games straight that the Ravens have won by just one run.

Sequoia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Winfield, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Drew Ostrander, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Sequoia now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
