Preview: Hoehne Farmers vs. La Veta Redhawks
The Hoehne Farmers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the La Veta Redhawks at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hoehne waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They claimed a resounding 52-20 victory over Rocky Ford on the road. With Hoehne ahead 35-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Phoenix San Roman was her usual excellent self, scoring eight points along with six steals. San Roman is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Janae Ramos, who scored five points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, La Veta scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Primero with a sharp 65-42 victory. The win was just what La Veta needed coming off of a 55-22 loss in their prior game.
Hoehne's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for La Veta, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Everything came up roses for Hoehne against the Redhawks in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 61-24 win. With Hoehne ahead 36-16 at the half, the game was all but over already.
