Basketball Recap: Hunter Comes Up Short

Hunter lost against Viewmont last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hunter Wolverines were beaten by the Viewmont Vikings 65-32. The matchup marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mama Tuitupou-Kutu, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Tuitupou-Kutu a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Skye Davidson, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Mara Mickelson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Viewmont, putting up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Mickelson's afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Gold, who had 11 points.

Hunter's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Viewmont, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

When Hunter and Viewmont next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hunter will try to stop Corner Canyon's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Viewmont will try to stop Weber's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
