Basketball Preview: St. Anne's-Belfield Saints vs. Saint Gertrude Gators
St. Anne's-Belfield is 9-1 against the Gators since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The St. Anne's-Belfield Saints will be playing at home against the Saint Gertrude Gators at 5:00 p.m. St. Anne's-Belfield will be looking to keep their 22-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, St. Anne's-Belfield gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Collegiate 65-27 on the road. Given St. Anne's-Belfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Cougars are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Saint Gertrude ended up a good deal behind the Scotties on Friday and lost 62-48. Saint Gertrude has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. Anne's-Belfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Saint Gertrude, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.
