Basketball Game Preview: Windham Eagles vs. Cheverus Stags

The Windham Eagles will square off against the Cheverus Stags at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Windham's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Windham is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Oxford Hills just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to the Vikings 70-65. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Vikings are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, Cheverus didn't have quite enough to beat Deering on Monday and fell 65-62.

Cheverus' loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3. As for Windham, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.

Windham didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Cheverus in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. Will Windham repeat their success, or does Cheverus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
