Recap: Jefferson Cougars vs. Lewis County Minutemen
The Jefferson Cougars put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 65-38 stomp they got on the road against Lewis County. Jefferson might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 26 points or more this season.
Wyatt Shively was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Gladney, who scored eight points.
Ben Putnam and Pason Kelley certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Putnam scored 22 points along with three blocks, while Kelley scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Lewis County struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jefferson pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Lewis County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
