Football Recap: Purvis Falls Short of Laurel in the Playoffs

Purvis and Laurel squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Purvis had to settle for second. They were dealt a 39-3 loss at the hands of the Golden Tornadoes.

Kade Lawler threw for 51 yards on seven of 14 attempts. Parker Yawn was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards. On the ground, Paxton Cooper rushed for 48 yards.

Purvis' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Laurel, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Purvis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Laurel, they will head out to challenge Stone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tomcats' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Golden Tornadoes' offense will have their work cut out for them.
