Recap: Del Oro vs. McClatchy
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Del Oro Golden Eagles walked away with it. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lions a 2-0 shutout on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Del Oro sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Kiana Faucette and
Cassidy Kelly, who scored both of Del Oro's goals. The pair have combined for a total of eight so far this season.
Del Oro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1-6. As for McClatchy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7-2.
Del Oro will take on St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (St. Mary's is ranked 44th, while Del Oro is ranked 56th). McClatchy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
