Football Game Preview: Mescalero Apache Chiefs vs. Lordsburg Mavericks

The Mescalero Apache Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Lordsburg Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mescalero Apache is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Mescalero Apache is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Gateway Christian, who was ranked 12th at the time (Mescalero Apache was ranked 21st). The Chiefs had to suffer through a 68-16 loss at the hands of the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Lordsburg played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Tatum 52-14. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.

Lordsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mescalero Apache, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Mescalero Apache was dealt a bruising 60-6 defeat at the hands of Lordsburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
