Football Recap: Weldon Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Weldon and Hobgood Charter squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Weldon had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Raiders 44-14. The loss leaves the Chargers still looking for their first win of the season.

Hobgood Charter found their leader in freshman Armanti Alston, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 57 yards and one TD. Alston also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making one tackle and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Weldon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Hobgood Charter, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Weldon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hobgood Charter, they are taking a road trip to challenge Northside - Pinetown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so the Raiders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
