Hope has no trouble against Block Island

Recap: Hope Blue Wave vs. Block Island

The Hope Blue Wave had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Block Island as Hope made off with a 49-29 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Hope has posted since December 15, 2023.

Hope found their leader in underclassman Jorday Johnson, who scored 27 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Hope's points.

Block Island's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kiley Ryan, who scored 11 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ryan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Jaramilo, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Hope's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Block Island, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Hope will head out on the road to challenge Davies Career & Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Davies Career & Tech is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Block Island, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Hope at 2:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Hope is ranked 24th, while Block Island is ranked 44th).
