Baseball Recap: Arlington Memorial Comes Up Short

Arlington Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Leland & Gray Rebels. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Rebels since Tuesday.

Chris Watson put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Watson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

Watson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Riley Perez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Hogan Maguire was another, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Arlington Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Leland & Gray, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Arlington Memorial will venture away from home to challenge Proctor at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leland & Gray, they will head out to face off against West Rutland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
