Basketball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. Orr Spartans

The Taft Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Orr Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Taft is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Kelly to the tune of 69-4 on Tuesday. The Eagles pushed the score to 57-4 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had no chance of recovering from.

It was another big night for Gabriela Gonzalez, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten assists, and ten steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists. Jalisa Ross was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds.

Orr played against Northside and won via forfeit.

The victory made it two in a row for Orr and bumps their season record up to 18-4. As for Taft, their record is now 11-17.

Everything went Taft's way against Orr in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Taft made off with a 51-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taft since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
