Volleyball Game Preview: Avon Eagles vs. Magnificat Blue Streaks

After both having extra time off, the Avon Eagles and the Magnificat Blue Streaks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Avon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wadsworth, sneaking past 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on four straight.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Avon got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Magnificat faced Olmsted Falls in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Blue Streaks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Streaks have posted since September 13th.

Magnificat's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Avon, their win bumped their record up to 25-1.

Avon couldn't quite get it done against Magnificat in their previous matchup back in October as they fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
