Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Eagles vs. Putnam Kingsmen

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Putnam. The Eagles will face off against the Kingsmen at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Centennial made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Putnam, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Kingsmen by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Kingsmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

For Putnam's part, Ben Boman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Putnam is 2-1 when Boman posts eight or more strikeouts, but 4-15 otherwise. Boman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe Salvione, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Milo Ford also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Putnam's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
