Softball Recap: Gray Collegiate Academy Picks Up 14th Straight Win on the Road

Gray Collegiate Academy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets a 16-0 shutout. Considering the War Eagles have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddox Long made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaley Anderson and Braelyn Triplett did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Triplett went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Triplett has posted since back in May of 2024. Aspen Boulware was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Gray Collegiate Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aiken only posted an OBP of .176.

Gray Collegiate Academy pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Aiken, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
