Basketball Recap: Bishop Rosecrans Starts Season with Win on the Road

Bishop Rosecrans had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 71-42 victory over the Lakewood Lancers. The win continues a trend for the Bishops in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Rosecrans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Bernett, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Bernett also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Brody Boothe, who shot 54% from the field to rack up 21 points and five assists.

Lakewood is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Rosecrans will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Wellington School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Bishops their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lakewood, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on December 9.
