The Crowley County Chargers will challenge the Akron Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Crowley County's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six contests.
Crowley County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Fowler, who was ranked 25th at the time (Crowley County was ranked 24th). The Chargers enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over the Grizzlies on Friday.
Crowley County found their leader in freshman Levi Gibson, who rushed for 197 yards and three scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 71 receiving yards. Gibson is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
Crowley County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

One reason for the win was Crowley County's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Donaven Bell was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13.
Meanwhile, Akron put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Merino, posting a 54-14 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.
Akron's win came from a few key players Crowley County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jace Curtis, who rushed for 112 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards. He didn't just play on offense: he also made nine total tackles and defended one pass. Akron also got a significant boost from Jakzon Livesay, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

Crowley County's record now sits at 6-3. As for Akron, their record is now 9-0.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Crowley County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 222.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Akron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Crowley County against Akron when the teams last played back in October of 2020, as the squad secured a 35-0 victory. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
