Softball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Compton Early College Rising Phoenix

The Lawndale Cardinals will face off against the Compton Early College Rising Phoenix at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Lawndale, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Compton Early College's (thus far) undefeated season.

Lawndale came up short against Hoover on Tuesday, falling 21-8.

Cynthia Palacios was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel De Alba, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Palacios wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lawndale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Compton Early College earned a 16-11 win over Centennial on Friday.

Compton Early College's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.3 runs. As for Lawndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
