Softball Recap: Upper Merion Area Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Upper Merion Area had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Pottstown Trojans get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Emily Volpe was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Haylee Legerton was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Upper Merion Area hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Upper Merion Area's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Pottstown, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upper Merion Area will host Norristown at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.64 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pottstown, they will face off against Phoenixville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
