Soccer Recap: Anna Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sherman last Wednesday, Anna came back down to earth. The Anna Coyotes came up short against the Walnut Grove Wildcats on Friday, falling 5-1. The Coyotes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 4-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Paisly Martin, who's now up to three this season.

Anna's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Walnut Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-1-1 record this season.

Anna and Walnut Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Anna (ranked 199th) will meet Denison (ranked 484th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Anna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season. Meanwhile, Walnut Grove will square off against Melissa at 7:15 p.m. on March 14th up 276 places (25 vs. 301).
