Basketball Game Preview: Abilene Eagles vs. Coronado Mustangs

Abilene hasn't had much luck against Coronado recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Abilene Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Coronado Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Abilene will be strutting in after a victory while Coronado will be coming in after a loss.

Abilene took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Odessa as Abilene made off with a 63-42 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Bronchos are ranked 696th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Coronado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palo Duro.

Abilene pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Abilene came up short against Coronado in their previous meeting back in January, falling 63-52. Can Abilene avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
