Basketball Recap: Sayre Takes a Loss

Sayre lost against Cowanesque Valley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sayre Redskins took a blow against the Cowanesque Valley Indians, falling 65-30. The Redskins were down 57-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Sayre had strong showings from Abbie McGaughey, who went 9 of 21 en route to 20 points and five boards, and Rylee Lantz, who posted four points along with 12 rebounds and five blocks. The dominant performance also gave Lantz a new career-high in assists (four).

Sayre is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16. As for Cowanesque Valley, they moved to 5-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Sayre will square off against Northeast Bradford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cowanesque Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Williamson at 6:00 p.m.
