Football Recap: Carthage's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

If Carthage was feeling good fresh off their 48-19 takedown of Watertown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Comets took a 21-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Comets came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Hornets are ranked 254th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Carthage fell to 6-1. As for Fayetteville-Manlius, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Carthage is set to take on their familiar foe Whitesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Comets 10.9, the Warriors 15) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Fayetteville-Manlius will square off against rival Henninger at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
