Softball Recap: Maloney Spartans vs. Warde Mustangs
Maloney had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Warde Mustangs by a score of 8-3 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but Maloney sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Stella Cicero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Jenna Quilty was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Maloney's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Warde, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
