Boardman dropped their record down to 6-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Austintown-Fitch Falcons by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this contest were averaging 2.88 runs allowed.

Kenzie Cherne was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Laci Jurus was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Austintown-Fitch, the win keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Austintown-Fitch's side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Roby, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Roby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Rodgers, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Boardman beat Austintown-Fitch by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday.
