Basketball Recap: Willow Spring Storm vs. Garner Trojans
The Willow Spring Storm pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 90-61 loss at the hands of Garner. Willow Spring has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Willow Spring lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grant Overman. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Overman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavion Terrell, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Willow Spring's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Garner, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Willow Spring will be playing at home against the Titans at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. South Garner presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Storm in North Carolina (the Titans are ranked 101st, while the Storm are ranked 310th). As for Garner, they will head out on the road to square off against the Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clayton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully the Trojans like a good challenge.
