Recap: Silverado Skyhawks vs. Western Warriors

The Silverado Skyhawks's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over Western. That's another feather in the cap for Silverado, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Silverado's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christina Stowers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kaitlyn Jack-Keller was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Western saw an underclassman step up: Laila Lwaba scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Lwaba scored a full 64.3% of Western's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Western were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Silverado's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Western, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Silverado and Sierra Vista will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Donnayja Gibson and Timia Thomas. Western and Durango will face off at 6:55 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Durango is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
