Baseball Recap: Brazos Wins Going Away Against Boling

Brazos barely beat Boling the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Brazos put the hurt on Boling with a sharp 10-1 victory on Friday. That looming 10-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Kaden Reising spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (two).

On the hitting side, Luke Polasek and Carter Baros did most of the damage at the plate: Polasek scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Baros scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Reese Cullen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Brazos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Brazos is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Boling dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Brazos Cougars duke it out with Hempstead Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brazos is facing Hempstead at the right time seeing as Hempstead is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Boling, they will challenge Hitchcock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boling will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: Hitchcock will have lost six straight heading into Tuesday's game.
