Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Akron

Akron entered their tilt with Sedgwick County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 23-0 on Tuesday.

Mason Porteus and Alex Bowin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Porteus pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bowin tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Porteus went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple, while Bowin went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That triple was Porteus' first of the season.

In other batting news, Jakzon Livesay was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (three). Jax Kusel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Akron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sedgwick County only managed three hits.

Akron's record now sits at 3-1. As for Sedgwick County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Akron will challenge Yuma at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sedgwick County, they will be playing at home against Wray at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
