Football Game Preview: Colonie Central Wolfpack vs. Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks

The Colonie Central Wolfpack will challenge the Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Colonie Central is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Shenendehowa on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wolfpack came up short against the Plainsmen, falling 34-14. The loss continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their meetings with the Plainsmen: they've now lost nine in a row.

Although Colonie Central took the loss, they still got scores from Robbie Frey and Steven Thomas.

Colonie Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cameron Fruscio and Derek Nash. Nash has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last ten times he's played.

Meanwhile, Saratoga Springs hadn't done well against Shaker recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Blue Streaks came out on top against the Bison by a score of 28-21. The Blue Streaks pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bison cut but never quite recovered from.

Colonie Central better keep an eye on Benjamin Coryea. He was instrumental in Saratoga Springs' win, rushing for 334 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, Coryea is now up to 9 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Saratoga Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Saratoga Springs' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Colonie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
