Soccer Game Preview: South Tahoe vs. Equipo Academy

The South Tahoe Vikings will challenge the Equipo Academy Yeti at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South Tahoe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand North Tahoe a 1-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for South Tahoe as they're now sitting on four straight.

Meanwhile, while the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Virgin Valley who was credited with the victory on Saturday. The Bulldogs got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Equipo Academy's three.

South Tahoe's win bumped their record up to 19-3-3. As for Equipo Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-4-1.

South Tahoe took their victory against Equipo Academy in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
