Recap: Mobile Christian Leopards vs. Murphy Panthers
The Mobile Christian Leopards lost against the Murphy Panthers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mobile Christian fell 62-54 to Murphy. While losing is never fun, Mobile Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Murphy is ranked 55th).
Mobile Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rico Prince jr., who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael MJ Moore, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Mobile Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Murphy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cordairus Dixon, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Mangram, who scored ten points.
Mobile Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season. As for Murphy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Mobile Christian will play host again and welcome Bryant, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bryant has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 16. As for Murphy, they will head out on the road to face off against LeFlore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
