Volleyball Recap: Bridgeport Comes Up Short

Bridgeport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Scottsbluff Bearcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Bridgeport was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-23.

Kendal Deaver paced Bridgeport's offense, picking up four kills. Deaver got some help from Avery Schneider and her 14 assists.

Scottsbluff's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lillian Hays, who had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Hays has posted over her last six matchups. Alainah Salas was another key player, getting eight digs.

Bridgeport's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Scottsbluff, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Bridgeport wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Holdrege on the 3rd. As for Scottsbluff, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Adams Central on the 3rd.
