Baseball Recap: Milan Has No Trouble Against Austin

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oldenburg Academy, Milan was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Austin Eagles with a sharp 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Dillan Engel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Davidson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Milan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

Milan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Austin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milan will venture away from home to challenge Shawe Memorial at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians are facing the Hilltoppers at the right time seeing as the Hilltoppers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Austin, they will square off against Salem at 5:30 a.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
