Softball Recap: Mead Wins Going Away Against Silver Creek

Mead's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Silver Creek Raptors as they made off with a 15-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won five matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Abbie Hausotter made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Hausotter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Halie Gippe was a standout: she fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rosie Robuck, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3.

Mead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mead is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Silver Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Coming up, Mead will venture away from home to face off against Horizon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Silver Creek, they will challenge Resurrection Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.67 runs per game on average), something the Raptors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
