Football Game Preview: Pompton Lakes Cardinals vs. Elmwood Park Crusaders

Pompton Lakes has gone a perfect 5-0 against Elmwood Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to face off against the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. Pompton Lakes will be strutting in after a victory while Elmwood Park will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Pompton Lakes turned things around against Manchester Regional on Friday. They walked away with a 17-9 win over the Falcons.

Pompton Lakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jonah Fabian, who threw for 127 yards and one TD while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 56 yards. That's the most rushing yards Fabian has posted since back in September of 2024. Redon Xheladini was another key rusher, gaining 129 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Elmwood Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Lyndhurst and fell 52-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Pompton Lakes picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Elmwood Park, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
