Basketball Game Preview: Giltner Hornets vs. Red Cloud Warriors

The Giltner Hornets will take on the Red Cloud Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Giltner has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 5.

On Tuesday, Giltner lost to Gibbon on the road by a 44-26 margin.

Meanwhile, Red Cloud didn't have too much trouble with Heartland Lutheran on Tuesday as they won 42-25. The team ran away with 35 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.

Giltner better keep an eye on Logan Brown. She was instrumental in Red Cloud's win, putting up 17 points. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josie Rust, who posted seven points.

Red Cloud has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Giltner, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Giltner was dealt a bruising 50-23 defeat at the hands of Red Cloud in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Giltner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
