Football Recap: North Platte Falls to Kearney in First Game of Season

North Platte unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Kearney Bearcats and fell 38-0. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 20-0 to the Bearcats when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kearney had a senior duo take command as Zach Atchison rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries and Levi Pofahl rushed for 125 yards and one TD on only 12 carries. Atchison got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 51 yards.

Looking ahead, North Platte is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Lincoln East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kearney, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Grand Island at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
