Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Clovis

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Clovis ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Buchanan Bears 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three contests in a row.

Clovis got a great performance from Caden Frantzich as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddox Merrill, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Clovis' record is now 11-4. As for Buchanan, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-8.

Clovis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
