Softball Recap: Lecanto Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lecanto's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Crystal River Pirates 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Maddie Graham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kierstyn Swayze, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Abigail Shidner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lecanto's record now sits at 4-13. As for Crystal River, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lecanto will square off against Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Crystal River, they will face off against Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
