Basketball Preview: Upsala Cardinals vs. Swanville Bulldogs
The Upsala Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Swanville Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Upsala's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Upsala scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 80-42 victory over Pine River-Backus on the road. Upsala has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.
Upsala's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Noah Boeckermann, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, and Jack Primus, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Primus is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Aden Warga, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Swanville lost to the at home by a decisive 60-46 margin on Friday.
Upsala is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Swanville, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Upsala took their victory against the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 66-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Upsala since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
