Baseball Recap: Harper Woods Comes Up Short

Harper Woods was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They fell 9-6 to the Renaissance Phoenix. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Phoenix this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-4 on Saturday.

JaKari Jewitt was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kwintyn Powers, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Harper Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Renaissance, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harper Woods will take on Avondale at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Renaissance, they will head out on the road to challenge Communication Media Arts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
