Football Game Preview: Pontotoc Warriors vs. Lanier Bulldogs + Official Tickets

The Pontotoc Warriors will face off against the Lanier Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Pontotoc not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 5th (when they won 37-6). Everything went their way against Lafayette as they made off with a 41-21 win. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lanier, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Vicksburg with a sharp 31-8 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Pontotoc better keep an eye on Ashton Mikell. He was instrumental in Lanier's win, rushing for 205 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those 205 rushing yards gave Mikell a new career-high.

Lanier was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 340 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Lanier's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Pontotoc, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
