Baseball Game Preview: Grace Davis Spartans vs. Beyer Patriots

The Grace Davis Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Beyer Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beyer took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Grace Davis, who comes in off a win.

Grace Davis will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Livingston on Thursday. Grace Davis came out on top against Livingston by a score of 12-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Logan Ariza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He has become a key player for Grace Davis: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lukas Silva was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kendry Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Grace Davis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.

Meanwhile, Beyer lost 9-2 to Central Valley on Thursday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grace Davis' victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-5. As for Beyer, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Grace Davis suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Beyer in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Grace Davis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
